In this session, we have focused on methods, such as outcome mapping and measurement, theory building and testing, that has helped participants determine the effectiveness of programmes or product designs and how they could create an impact. Understanding the design is critical for enhancing a program/product’s effectiveness, and allows funders and investors to use their funds more effectively. For example, program leaders, including experienced social workers, often wonder what program activities or product designs are the most effective in achieving outcomes and how these designs relate to specific outcomes.

The covered research methods has shed light on the Theory of Change of program/product designs for program leaders. The session has also discussed the differences and relationships between impact assessment, SROI assessment, and ESG assessment, and other forms of assessment based on certain impact standards.
