Mai Po Nature Reserve is not only known as "Bird Paradise", but also recognised as "a Wetland of International Importance". According to the WWF's "Discovering Biodiversity in Hong Kong Wetlands” project in 2016, the number of species in Mai Po reached 2025, including a variety of fish, birds, mammals, insects and plants. In Mai Po Wetland, a harmonious coexistence can be witnessed among all those species. This forms a rich and diverse ecosystem with high carbon absorption capacity, contributing to addressing climate change and playing a crucial role in the sustainable development of both nature and human society.
Collaborated with RELOOK Social Innovation Centre and the GBA Carbon Neutrality Association, the Community Exploration @ North District - Rediscover Green North was held successfully on 24, February. With the guidance of a professional guide, participants explored Mai Po with binoculars to discover the ecological value of the Mangrove.
The event was co-organised with RELOOK Social Innovation Center and sponsored by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, HKSAR.
