Prof Way KUO, JP

President and University Distinguished Professor, City University of Hong Kong

Professor Way Kuo is President of City University of Hong Kong. He is a Member of the US National Academy of Engineering and Academic Sinica in Taiwan, a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and an International Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, elected in 2000, 2002, 2007 and 2021, respectively.

Before joining CityU, Professor Kuo was on the Senior Management team of Oak Ridge National Laboratory of the US Department of Energy and served as Dean of Engineering at the University of Tennessee

His book, Soulware: The American Way in Higher Education, Wiley and Scrivener in NJ & MA , 2019, advocates integration of teaching and research.

In addition to co-authoring eight academic books and high impact papers, he has published books on popular science in clean energy. He is well respected for promoting higher education with an emphasis on problem-driven research.
