Dr Donald LI, SBS, CStJ, JP
Dr Donald Li, Chairman of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Ltd., is a specialist in Family Medicine in private practice in Hong Kong. He is the Immediate Past President of the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA) and has been an ardent advocate in promoting better primary care and family health. Dr Li is the Chairman of Elderly Commission, the Chairman of Action Committee Against Narcotics of Security Bureau and also a member of the Steering Committee on Primary Healthcare Development.
Over the past years, Dr Li has been actively participating in public services and appointed to serve on various government advisory bodies and committees. He is the Director of Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association and Vice Chairman of Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Council. He is also the Chairman of the Medical & Health subcommittee of Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce, Honorary Advisor of Hong Kong Federation of Professions, Honorary Steward of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Honorary Adviser of The Hong Kong Award for Young People and Honorary Fellow of Agency for Volunteer Service, Adviser of Our Hong Kong Foundation, Honorary Sponsor of NT West Elder Academies Cluster. Dr Li was conferred Honorary Fellow of the University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2015 and 2016 respectively in recognition of his notable contributions to society.
Dr Li also dedicates much of his professional time to academia and teaching locally and internationally. He is the Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong; Honorary Clinical Professor in Family Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine, Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care of The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Honorary Professor of Fudan University; Honorary Professor of School of Medicine of Shanghai Tongji University; Adjunct Professor of School of Medicine of Zhejiang University; Vice President of World Association of Chinese Doctors; Honorary Advisor of Shanghai Huashan Worldwide Medical Center. Dr Li is also the Chairman of Advisory Committee of Shanghai General Practice Medical Education & Training Centre of Shanghai University of Medical & Health Science, Greater Bay Area Medical Education Association General Practice and Primary Healthcare Professional Committee Adviser of Guangdong Medical Education Association and Adviser of Doctors' Education and Training in General Practice Committee of Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He has actively participated in promoting the training and development of family medicine in the mainland. He was awarded Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award by Shanghai Municipal People’s Government in 2017 and the Fok Ying-Tung Prize –The World Outstanding Chinese Doctor Award in 2019.
