Digital Social Innovation

The world has flipped upside-down in so many ways in just a few months, calling for unprecedented measures of adaptation. The first and foremost challenge is how we can work and collaborate locally and globally whilst in physical isolation. The pandemic might have overwhelmed us, but we can outrun and rise above it! Digital Social Innovation (DSI) – which has been coined decades ago as collaborative innovation using digital technologies to co-create knowledge and solutions for a wide range of social needs at a scale and speed; that was unimaginable before the rise of internet – can be our answer.

With DSI, open data, citizen science and other digital tools have opened up a wide array of possibilities in driving informed and responsive changes needed during this time. It is foreseeable that digital
technology will be woven into our personal, professional, and social fabric. This stages the best time for us to reflect, share and strategise our way forward on the digital social innovation highway.
