Founder and President, Hong Kong Shue Yan University

Dr Henry HU Hung Lick is the Founder and President of the Hong Kong Shue Yan University. He was qualified as a barrister in the UK in 1954 specialising in international law.

Together with his late wife Dr CHUNG Chi Yung, Dr HU established the Shue Yan College in 1971, which was recognised by the Government as a private institution of higher education in 1976. The college became Hong Kong’s first private university in 2006 upon granting of university status by the HKSAR.

As Hong Kong’s first private university, founded on Confucian values, imbued with a spirit of service to the community, committed to excellence in teaching and research and dedicated to preparing our graduates for their future careers through a personalised, transformative campus learning experience, HKSYU seeks to differentiate itself from other providers on the basis of the quality of the experience and the relevance of the outcomes that we provide for our students, by reinventing liberal arts education for the Digital Era.
